Osmo Natural WR Base Coat is ideal as extra protection for softwood species for the exterior. A clear wood impregnation which serves as a preventive protection against blue stain, rot and insect attack. Penetrates deeply into the wood – prevents swelling and shrinkage and is extremely water repellent with a very low odour during application and is completely odourless when dry.

Osmo Natural WR Base Coat 0.75/2.50 L

WR Base Coat is not a wood finish and is a base coat only. A finishing product from the Osmo range is required within three months. No sanding – just repaint. No priming required. Simple and even coverage. The coating can be adjusted throughout the working life. The protective layer contains additives that protect the wood from mold, rot, lichens and insects, and have been tested over a long period of time and under extreme conditions.

Recommended Purpose

Osmo WR Base Coat 4001 is a wood preservative for amateur use against wood rotting fungi, wood dtaining fungi and wood destroying insects on all outside wood which is out of direct ground contact and/or surface water e.g.: facades,windows (inner and outer parts), exterior doors (inner and outer parts), carports, shutters and balcony railings. Not for indoor application.

Methods of Application

Apply by (brush or roller) spreading out thinly and evenly along wood texture. Number of coats required: 2-3, depending on wood species and surface characteristics. Coat the clean, dry and frost-free wood generously – if possible on all sides. The product should be applied evenly in order to get best results. Processing temperature: 10 – 30°C

Drying Time

Approx. 12 hours (normal climatic conditions, 20 °C/ 65 % rel. humidity). Lower temperatures and/or higher air humidity increases the drying time.

Coverage of WR Base Coat

1 litre covers approx. 5-6 m² with one coat. Product coverage depends significantly on the character of the wood. All information refers to smooth and planed/cut surfaces. Other surfaces may lead to reduced coverage. Osmo WR Base Coat is not to be used alone, instead it is a clear impregnation to protect wood against rot, blue stain and insect attack.

DECK AND FACADE COATINGS

FIRST COAT

Apply the first coat of oil on untreated and outside used / stored wood at about 35 ml / m².

POSSIBLE CORRECTIONS

Excess oil and wet layer defects can be corrected within 30 minutes of the first application.

DRYING TIME

Drying time about 12 hours, low temperature and high humidity prolong the drying time.

SECOND COAT

Apply a second coat of oil about 35 ml / m² (If you are renovating wood, apply on a clean and dry surface).

COVERAGE WITH ONE COAT

Oil consumption: 1 liter - about 24 - 26 m² in one coat (tools used for work: brush, roller, sponge, trowel, etc.).

COVERAGE WITH TWO COATS

Oil consumption: 1 liter - about 12 - 13 m² in two coats (working tools: brush, roller, sponge, brush, etc.).
